Pend Oreille County Leadership Training

Thirty five county employees, elected officials and department heads participated in a Leadership Pilot Program by the Pacific Institute & Redmon and Associates. This training was made available to our county through a grant and focused on organizational and individual performance at its "root cause", our mindset.

Training was divided into 2 phases, education and application.  In the first phase, the Pacific Institute facilitators used the flagship program "Investment in Excellence". This is both a personal and organizational development program, which helps leaders understand how they impact their work environment and methods for enhancing it.  The curriculum is foundational in the cultural enhancement process as we look introspectively at what might be in our way to achieving the results we desire. Through the first phase, we identified needs and learned tools necessary for enhancing and impacting the future of our county. The group was divided up into coaching teams for follow-up implementation and work sessions.

In the second phase, our coach worked with the teams to identify strategies to enhance county culture and performance. Out of these work sessions, four committees were developed and teams were formed to address the action items: Facilities, Communications, Budget and Excellence.  The Action TEAMs (Together Everyone Achieves More) are formed with TEAM members, other county employees, community members and each group has an elected county representative.
