Through the generosity of a $200,000 donation by Teck-Cominco, a new Aquarius milfoil harvester machine was delivered in October 2008 to Pend Oreille County. The River Crew assembled and tested the harvester and then received training from an Aquarius representative.
The River Crew continued to operate and become familiar with the harvester and its capabilities until cold weather set in late 2009.
The harvester was purchased from Aquarius Systems, a Wisconsin company.
About half of the funding for day to day operations of the River Crew is provided by the Public Utilities District #1 (PUD).
